The beautiful beach of Sakarun (or Saharun) is a place with almost Caribbean features located near the village of Verunic in the northernmost part of the island of Dugi Otok. Unlike the other places on Dugi Otok that face the mainland, Sakarun faces outwards and stretches about 800 metres in length. This beach is one of the most famous in Dalmatia because it is characterised by white sand and is surrounded by a turquoise sea.

The beach of Sakarun

Nestled within a bay that protects it from wind and strong swells, Sakarun beach is considered one of the most beautiful not only in Dalmatia but also in Croatia. Sakarun is surrounded by the greenery of a beautiful pine forest that provides shade and coolness in the summer and has a shoreline characterised by soft, white sand. The sea is clear, clean, the water is never too cold and it is also suitable for children as the seabed slopes down slowly.

On the beach there are two restaurants where you can eat, toilets and showers. Free beach areas alternate with equipped lidos and here you can also find children’s play areas and sports fields.
