Krk is one of the largest islands in Croatia and also has a high vocation for tourism. Therefore, it is not surprising that so many flats are rented out to tourists by locals. As you move up and down the island, from the seaside resorts to the small towns in the interior, you will find holiday homes and flats for rent. However, the greatest concentration of these establishments is to be found in Malinka, which is located along the west coast, in Krk town, and in Baska, located at the southern end. Finally, you will also find numerous flats along route 102, which runs all along the interior of the island from north to south.
If you’re looking for a cheap flat by the sea, head to the east coast, where the villages of Vrbnik and Šilo are located. These areas are less frequented by mass tourism and you’ll definitely get better prices. The sea is of course a guarantee, so don’t be afraid in this respect!
If you are looking for peace and quiet, and also want to keep your budget down, go for the cheap flats, which you will find in abundance in the many towns in the Krk interior, such as Risika, Polje, Gabonjin, Kras or Garica. You will have the disadvantage of being further from the sea, but on the contrary you will be centrally located, convenient for exploring a different area every day.
But why choose a flat instead of a hotel? The first advantage is undoubtedly that of independence, i.e. you will not have problems finding the reception closed and you will not have to obey hotel rules. In addition, greater independence often translates into greater freedom, so you will be able to shop at the supermarket and cook your own meals, so that you can experience your holiday 100% like a local, feeling right at home.
Finally, a note: whatever you choose, know that the flats in Krk will almost certainly satisfy you. You will have all the necessary comforts, such as air conditioning, TV and Wi-Fi, a fully equipped kitchen and a washing machine, which can become a valuable ally even on holiday.
